It’s not possible to describe how profound my overall experience was but I hope it is enough to explain that even now, many years later when I think back on that journey I still feel a sense of relief and gratitude that I made the leap of faith and followed you to the jungle, that I allowed you to lead me to places I would have never gone on my own and to challenge me and stretch me in ways I would have never otherwise accepted, or even tolerated.

Since that journey I have had some amazing life experiences. Many intense high points and a few devastating lows. I enjoyed the full extremes at both ends as they were the fullness of life and living as I leaned from you on that journey. In every experience since, I feel an amazing sense of strength that I never had before. Even though I know that the strength I have now did not come directly from you or that journey because I know I always had it, however it was on that journey that I discovered what it was, where it comes from and how to apply it in my life. I didn’t learn a new faith or find a new religion, I discovered what my faith was. I learned to witness ways that I was hiding from myself which I could never have seen before and I have been living life more fully ever since.

I am an airline pilot and travel for a living but there is nothing like traveling with Satyen.  I knew none of my traveling companions prior to the trip but but was soon embraced by a group of enlightened travelers that only Satyen Raja can put together.  We saw all the sights, which was wonderful and amazing but we also got to soak up Satyen’s wisdom on a daily basis. When I met Satyen Raja in the Fall 2004, I was successful by all accounts — practicing as an attorney at a top law firm after having gone to a great college and law school, financially comfortable, with an active social life filled with wonderful friends and family.  Yet, I felt that something was missing; I knew that there was more to life, more meaning, more purpose, more peace, more joy.  Something about Satyen’s energy was captivating — he vibrated with truth, purpose, strength.  So when he spoke about accompanying him on a Spiritual Adventure Tour to Peru — even though I barely knew him and had never thought to travel to Peru — something within my gut said “go.”  Ignoring the voices in my head that told me it was not possible, I went with my gut, and signed up for the journey.

A year later I was off to Peru with Satyen, Suzanne, and some other adventurous souls.  Over the next 2 1/2 weeks, we traveled through Peru and throughout the journey, Satyen guided us deeper with spiritual practices, thought provoking exercises, and games aimed at the opening of our hearts.  Along the way, Satyen introduced us to Shamanic teachers who helped us go even deeper.  And by the end of the journey, when I came home, I was different.  I had discovered my joy, my peace, my truth.  I had uncovered, pulled up from within, the real me that had been buried under all the years of being told how to be in this world.  Along the way, I released heartache I had carried for 2 1/2 years over a broken relationship, and danced with my inner guide for the first time in my life.

Today I am married to a beautiful man of great depth and we are raising a wonderous, joy-filled boy.  I am fulfilled in my job, my relationships, and the fullness of my life.  And I am forever grateful for having met Satyen and traveled on my Spirtual Adventure Tour to Peru.  Because I know that without that experience,  I would not be living the glorious life I am living today.

Finding Myself

I have had the great gift of being with Satyen and Suzanne in Peru, Bali and Hawaii.  I can’t really say what drew me to these places or why I even went with these two amazing teachers.  It was just something inside me – like an invisible force.  I was always really nervous and at the same time excited. Why?  Because I knew I would be challenged, nudged out of my comfort zone, not allowed to withdraw into my little patterns of blame and judgment.  I was going to be held accountable for my thoughts, my words and my actions.  I was going to experience a depth within myself as yet undiscovered and unexcavated.  I was going to experience a type of connection with others and what some would call Great Spirit that I had never felt before.  Who knew I was so loved?

One of the greatest gifts that I have given myself over the past sixty years is joining Satyen Raja in his travels to ineresting places around the globe. My world has grown immensly through the indepth contact with the people and cultures of the places we visited. Each trip was multi-faceted; a relaxing and educational experience of a foreign land and an adventuresome and personal journey within oneself.  I always returned home from these trips with more awareness, clarity and understanding of myself.

In Machu Picchu and on the banks of the Amazon, I released old emotional baggage which allowed me to enjoy and appreciate life more fully.  In india, after following in the footsteps of the Buddha, and attending the orderly festival, Kumbh Mela, of over fifty million participants on the beaches of Allahabad, my heart was burst open with the expression of love in the form of the Taj Mahal.  After each trip, I was a changed man; changed for the better.

Each trip was well organized, with excellent guides and first class accommodations.  Satyen’s insight and sharing, enhanced each site visit.

I had traveled the world during my life, however, nothing prepared me for the richness I experienced with Satyen Raja.

I am happy to share what comes for me as I  review the many many Blessings I have received through these Adventures. I am so looking forward to reconnecting with you all in India in February.

In Peru I was able to settle into the center of my Being and relax for the first time in my life in Peace. I found the Home within.

When I left for the Adventure I had a health condition that completely cleared up once my Heart opened in Machu Picchu and has never been an issue since.

I experienced and embodied the Essence of my True Nature and of All Others.

My connection with the Plants have humbled me and empowered me to take exquisite care of myself.

I made a choice to Love through fears no matter what.

The lessons I embodied have changed who I am in every Beautiful way possible and have given me an understanding of myself that continues to enrich my life.

I am forever committed to realizing Truth.

The Friends I made on these adventures have become the most valued people in my life, they are the ones who  stayed by me as the old distorted me fell apart and the new was born inside of me.

In India I learned how to let go of attachments and Give the very thing that I was wanting to receive by the Incredible Sadhus at the Kumbh Mela.

As another layer of paralyzing fear was released in Varanasi my Heart opened beyond anything I had every known.

I found myself simply enjoying life in the richness of the present moment and was open to Amazing surprises and gifts through the process.

I have been on 2 of the journeys already – Peru and England- Ireland.  While both trips were very different in physical, cultural and economic ways – there were many similarities.  Both trips provided great insight into the countries , the history and the people as well as spiritual beliefs and customs.  Allowing me to integrate and grow my own spiritual practices and grow my awareness.  In finding out more about others I seem to have discovered the same or more about myself.  I was also introduced to many new gifted  friends who I could learn from and exchange with in a deeper more meaningful way.  Many being great teachers to me – some in a conscious way and some without even knowing it.  I have also experienced learning many new things and seeing more and more how much more there is to learn and experience – thank – you Mother Ayahuasca.

Being that I run a company – I personally believe that I need to remove myself for a few weeks a couple of times a year.  This allows me to rest and reboot.  I am out of cell phone and email range and find it very freeing – and enriching.  It is a great way for me to spend my t time – as well as stimulating my brain and body in new ways.  I have tried beach and cruise vacations and while nice – they don’t get my juices going.  The above trips have and more.  When I get home I am ready to get back at my life with new skills and awarenesses as well I find myself looking towards the next adventure tour.  I truly miss the community that has been built.

I also very much love the teaching aspect of the journeys – when Satyen and Suzanne share their learnings in their unique way – allowing for fun – expression, freedom and creativity all in a wonderfully held space.

Every adventure tour with Satyen I have unleashed myself in a new and exciting way.  In Africa I discovered myself in the Great Pyramid as I opened to the Great Mystery within and felt the essence of the beginning of life and the sacredness of ‘God’.  On the plains of Serengeti as we traveled on a safari with our drivers, I discovered how simple it was to call forth the black rhinoceros and all the magnificent animals who joined us.  In a crop circle in England I felt peace enter me.  In Ireland the winds blew threw me, the ocean called to me, the castles invited me.  In Bali, I wept at the magnificence that was presented in front of me.  I found the beauty was so overwhelming, I had to sit each day and keep receiving.  This land, this exquisiteness wanted to fill me in every way.  At first it was difficult to receive it.  Every day I allowed more to enter me.    I met an amazing Medicine Man who showed me humbleness, patience and healing.  I am able to receive in a way I never could before.  Each day those pieces from those magical journeys have brought me closer to me so I can live from me each day, each moment.

Occasionally I reflect on how much energy it takes to both survive and thrive as a lead in an industrial software company in today’s environment. Why would one pick such a difficult path fraught with risk, insane work load and sacrifice?
